by Jessica Polko Detroit placed Rondell White on the disabled list on August 15th. White dislocated his left shoulder while attempting to make a diving catch during the third inning of the first game of the Tigers' August 14th doubleheader in Kansas City. He spent the majority of July serving as Detroit's designated hitter rather than playing left field due to a sore right shoulder and only returned to the field a few days prior to this injury. Initial tests indicate that he will not require surgery to repair the damage, and White optimistically hopes to return from the disabled list around the first week of September. A more realistic time table might have him back three to four weeks from now, though he may still miss the remainder of the season.
