by Jessica Polko Florida placed Guillermo Mota on the disabled list today. Mota experienced tightness in his elbow on April 29th, leading the Marlins to order tests. The tests revealed inflammation but did not uncover any structural damage. Consequently, he's resting, avoiding flying, and taking anti-inflammatories. The move is retroactive to April 24th, so he will be eligible to return on May 9th. However, even though he may begin throwing next weekend, Florida plans to approach his rehab with caution, so he isn't expected back before the second half of May at the soonest. With all of the complete games the Marlins' starters have been throwing, the team does not feel an urgent need for their closer.
