by Jessica Polko Barry Bonds underwent surgery on his right knee in late January. A week later doctors needed to re-stitch the incision from his surgery. Initial projections indicate he would participate very little in spring training games but open the season with the Giants. He appeared to be making solid progress up until a few days ago. After an MRI revealed new tears in his knee, he underwent a second procedure to repair the recent damage yesterday. Following the second surgery, he isn't expected back before the start of the season and he could miss more than a month.
