by Jessica Polko Milwaukee avoided arbitration with Ben Sheets, signing him to a one-year, $6M contract yesterday. When teams and players exchanged arbitration figures, the Brewers offered $5.5M while Sheets requested $6M. After extended negotiations, the two sides settled on the mid-point. Although Milwaukee wants Sheets first to demonstrate his back is healthy, the Brewers likely will pursue a multi-year contract in the near future.
