by Jessica Polko Frank Francisco hurled a folding chair into the stands during the ninth inning of Texas' August 13th game in Oakland. Doug Brocail initiated the incident when he stood and approached the stands to argue with a heckling fan. His teammates apparently felt he needed protection and exited the bullpen and dugout to join him. Having put himself in a position where he could be grabbed by fans, Francisco says someone grasped his left wrist. Cameras show him hurling a folding chair into the stands, where it bounced off one man's head and then struck a woman in the face, breaking her nose. After the game, Francisco was arrested on suspicion of felony, aggravated battery. He posted bail of $15,000 and was released. The criminal investigation is on-going, so we likely will not know until an October 29th hearing if any formal charges will be filed. Jennifer Bueno, the woman whose nose was broken, reportedly plans to let the criminal system run its course before filing a civil suit.
