by Jessica Polko Colorado placed Preston Wilson on the disabled list on August 24th. Although he took occasional days off, starting in centerfield for the Rockies put strain on the left knee Wilson had surgically repaired in April. The joint became particularly troublesome during Colorado's August 19th doubleheader against the Mets. In the aftermath of those games, he experienced substantial swelling in the knee, causing the Rockies to send him to the DL before even receiving a diagnosis. The club still does not know if he will require a second surgery. However, at this time, he is unlikely to return this season, since there is little reason for Colorado jeopardize his 2005 season when the Rockies clearly are out of playoff contention.
