by Jessica Polko The White Sox placed Frank Thomas on the disabled list on July 10th. Thomas injured his left ankle during Chicago's June 17th game in Florida, and while he appeared to recover quickly from the incident, the 36-year-old developed painful inflammation in the joint in July. In addition to the tendinitis in his ankle, the joint also is cluttered with bone fragments. Thomas plans to rest for the next two to three weeks while wearing a brace on the ankle. If he remains in pain at that point, he likely will undergo surgery, which would keep him out well into September if not the entire season.
