by Jessica Polko On July 2nd, Boston dealt RHP Andrew Shipman and a player to be named later to the Cubs for Jimmy Anderson. The Red Sox signed Shipman as a nondrafted free agent out of the University of Missouri in 2003. After finishing last season at A Augusta in the South Atlantic League, Shipman opened 2004 at A+ Sarasota in the Florida State League, where the 22-year-old has compiled a 25:15 K:BB with 22 H and 2 HR allowed in 28.2 IP for a 3.14 ERA over 22 appearances. Given his age and his control problems, I do not expect much out of him in the near future, but his dominance provides him with some upside.
