by Jessica Polko The Yankees placed Kevin Brown on the disabled list yesterday. Brown developed tightness in his lower back during his June 9th start against Colorado, causing him to exit the game after only two innings. The pain does not remind Brown of the sensations he experienced prior to undergoing back surgery in 2002, and tests did not indicate a herniated disc, so the injury is being described as a strain. Since he's already begun playing catch, there's a chance he may be able to return sometime around the 25th when he is first eligible to leave the disabled list. However, due to his past history of back problems, New York probably will approach his recovery cautiously.
