by Jessica Polko The Cubs placed Joe Borowski on the disabled list on June 6th. Tests revealed a slight tear in his right rotator cuff, but doctors have recommended rehab rather than surgery at this juncture. This injury likely dates back to spring training and may have occurred even earlier. Borowski's 2004 velocity was below his career standard, and he now reports having experienced increasing difficulties between appearances. He will spend four to six weeks building strength in his shoulder before attempting to rejoin the team, but he could be out much longer. If his rehab attempts are unsuccessful, surgery would cause him to miss the remainder of the season.
