by Jessica Polko Colorado placed Brian Fuentes on the disabled list on June 7th. Back spasms have periodically bothered Fuentes since spring training, but he only recently began to feel that he will not be able to pitch effectively until he recovers. After conducting several tests, the Rockies do not believe there is any structural damage in his back, so the club is blaming his pain on inflammation in his back, though Colorado does not know the source of the injury. Fuentes has taken anti-inflammatories and will continue to rest until the pain subsides and he can begin working his way back to the mound. Consequently, he appears at least three weeks away from being able to rejoin the team and he may be out considerably longer.
