by Jessica Polko Minnesota placed Corey Koskie on the disabled list yesterday. Koskie began experiencing soreness in his chest on Friday and left the Twins' May 11th game against Seattle in the third inning due to increased pain around his sternum. Minnesota hasn't divulged the specifics of the injury or set a timetable for his return, but current estimates indicate the problem likely will keep him out past May 27th when he is first eligible to return from the DL. Earlier in the week, Nick Punto hit the DL with a strained right oblique. He reportedly suffered the injury while fielding a pop fly during the Twins' April 28th game against Toronto. The 26-year-old switch-hitter continued to function in a limited fashion over the past couple of weeks, feeling fairly comfortable hitting right-handed while basically unable to hit from the left side. Minnesota decided on Tuesday that Punto should visit the disabled list in order to receive the rest he needs to fully recover. Consequently, I expect him to be out for the next four to six weeks.
