by Jessica Polko Atlanta placed Chipper Jones on the disabled list on April 26th, though the move was retroactive to April 18th. Jones' right hamstring reportedly has been bothering him for most of the month. He first seriously aggravated it during Atlanta's April 11th game against the Cubs, but he was able to return to the lineup within a few days. The 32-year-old then irritated the injury during the Braves' April 18th game against the Marlins. Jones hoped to avoid the disabled list and begin pinch-hitting this week, but the Braves wanted another healthy player on the roster, since the club was operating without several players who were day-to-day with minor ailments. Now that he's on the DL, Jones appears prepared to remain out until he's fully recovered in an effort to prevent this injury from becoming a chronic problem throughout the season. Consequently, while he'll be eligible to leave the disabled list on May 4th, I don't expect him back until the middle of May.
