by Jessica Polko The Mets placed Cliff Floyd on the disabled list yesterday. Floyd strained his right quadriceps while running to first base after hitting an infield grounder in the first inning of New York's April 11th game in Puerto Rico. He pulled up lame midway down the line but managed to stumble safely to first because neither Montreal pitcher Livan Hernandez nor third baseman Jamey Carroll was able to cleanly field the grounder. Floyd was helped from the field, while Eric Valent came in to pinch-run and take over in right field while Shane Spencer moved over to left to cover the position left open by Floyd's departure.
