by Jessica Polko Kansas City placed Desi Relaford on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring on Tuesday. Relaford injured his leg while running to first after hitting a groundball into left field in the third inning of the Royals' Opening Day game against the White Sox on Monday. Relaford was able to reach first safely, but he stopped there on what otherwise might have been a double. Kansas City sent Tony Graffanino into the game to run for Relaford and to replace him at second base.
