by Jessica Polko Yesterday, Texas dealt Einar Diaz, Justin Echols, and cash to Montreal for C/IF-S Josh McKinley and Chris Young. Montreal drafted McKinley out of high school with the 11th overall pick of the first round of the 1998 draft. He's demonstrated patience throughout the minors, and he appears to possess solid power and intriguing speed skills. Last year in his second season at AA Harrisburg in the Eastern League, the 24-year-old hit .288 with a .367 OBP and .467 SLG on 132 H, 33 2B, 2 3B, and 15 HR with a 60:86 BB:K and 17/22 SB% in 458 AB. He has experience at shortstop, third, second, and began working as a catcher last fall. If the Rangers want to complete his conversion into a catcher, he probably will return to AA in order to gather experience defensively. Otherwise, I'd expect him to advance to AAA this year.
