by Jessica Polko Brian Jordan will open the season on the disabled list due to a sprained MCL in his left knee. Jordan underwent season-ending surgery to repair a partially torn patella tendon in the same knee in July of 2003. While post-surgical soreness in the joint slowed the 37-year-old's spring training activities, this injury is considered unrelated to the torn tendon. Jordan wrenched his knee while checking his swing during the Rangers' March 24th spring training game against Oakland. An MRI revealed that the incident left Jordan with a sprained MCL while the surgically repaired tendon remained unharmed. Jordan has received a cortisone shot and will treat the injury with rest. Surgery is not being considered. Texas currently believes Jordan will miss between two and four weeks, and I suspect it will be closer to the later.
