by Jessica Polko Yesterday, Colorado dealt RHP Cam Esslinger to Anaheim for future considerations. The Rockies drafted Esslinger out of Seton Hall University with a 16th round pick in the 1999 draft. While Colorado allowed him to work as a starter at Short-Season Portland in the Northwest League for the remainder of the 1999 season, the Rockies moved him to relief at A Asheville in the South Atlantic League in 2000. His impressive dominance persuaded Colorado to continue to promote him despite his obvious control problems. Injury trouble supposedly contributed to his difficulties, but until the 27-year-old establishes better control, Esslinger is unlikely to make an impact in the majors.
