by Jessica Polko In early January, Kansas City signed Juan Gonzalez to a one-year, $4.5M contract that includes a $500,000 buyout on a $7M mutual option for 2005. Should Gonzalez reach 400 plate appearances, he'll receive a bonus of $50,000. He'll then receive $100,000 for 425 PA, $150,000 for 450 PA, $200,000 for 475 PA, and $500,000 for each of 500, 550, and 575 PA. The last three bonuses are also included in the option year.
