by Jessica Polko Tim Worrell signed a two-year, $5.5M contract with Philadelphia in early December. Despite his success as the Giants' closer last year, Worrell was more interested in finding work as a setup man in 2004, though his work as San Francisco's stopper garnered him a generous contract. We don't yet know how the Phillies' new stadium, Citizens Bank Park, will play. However, while the stadium is unlikely to favor pitchers as much as San Francisco's park, I don't anticipate a significant drop off in the 36-year-old's performance provided Philadelphia fields a decent defense. Nevertheless, I think the Phillies cost themselves money by pursuing a reliever coming off a closing job. Paying a non-closing reliever close to three million dollars a year simply isn't necessary.
