by Jessica Polko On Tuesday, Seattle sent Jeff Cirillo, Brian Sweeney, and cash to San Diego for Kevin Jarvis, Wiki Gonzalez, Dave Hansen, and Vince Faison. Both teams are hoping to find treasure in the other team's "trash". While Cirillo's skills didn't substantially change when he moved to Seattle, his production dipped to levels not even acceptable from a bench player let alone a starter. Given the inexplicable nature of Cirillo's decline, the 34-year-old and the Padres hope that a change of scenery will lead to a reversal of his downfall. San Diego plans to use him as a utility infielder. The Padres have been clear that Sean Burroughs is the starter and will not be pressured for playing time at third by Cirillo, though Cirillo may occasionally give Burroughs a rest and start if the match-ups are favorable. Cirillo will also serve as a reserve for the other infield positions.
