by Jessica Polko In mid-December, Boston signed Keith Foulke to a three-year, $20.5M contract with a joint option for 2007. In addition to a $1.5M signing bonus, Foulke reportedly will receive a salary of $3M in 2004, $7M in 2005, and $7.25M in 2006. The Red Sox hold a $7.5M option for 2007 that Foulke can guarantee with at least 45 GF in each year of the deal or if he finished a total of 95 games between 2005 and 2006. The option escalates to $7.75M if he finishes 53 games in 2006. If the option isn't guaranteed, Boston can pay a $1.5M buyout, leaving Foulke with a $3.75M player option. Foulke's player option escalates to $7.75M, if he finishes in the top 5 in Cy Young voting in any year of the deal.
