by Jessica Polko Kansas City allowed several players to leave as free agents, but the Royals have also acquired a handful of new players. Benito Santiago signed a two-year, $4.3M contract with Kansas City on Thursday. Finding a catcher who could contribute to their offense was a priority for the Royals this off-season. Santiago hit .279 with a .329 OBP and .424 SLG on 112 H, 21 2B, 2 3B, and 11 HR with a 29:69 BB:K and 0/1 SB% in 401 AB in 2003.
