by Jessica Polko Seattle held a press conference on Friday to announce the hiring of Bill Bavasi as their new General Manager. Pat Gillick stepped down from the position of Seattle GM at the end of the regular season, moving to a consulting position in the front office. The 45-year-old Bavasi worked as General Manager of the Anaheim Angels from 1994-1999. Like Gillick, Bavasi wasn't fired from his position as GM, he stepped down. He then took a position as the director of player development for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002 and held that position through 2003.
