by Jessica Polko When rosters first expanded, Seattle called up RHP Aaron Looper, Gil Meche, Chad Meyers, J.J. Putz, Jamal Strong, and Brian Sweeney. While Looper appears to possess the skills to provide the Mariners with solid relief innings, Seattle has only used him twice this month. As they battle to catch Oakland or Boston to secure a playoff spot, the team hasn't wanted to stray from the bullpen they've used for most of the season. If the Mariners fall out of the race a few days before the end of the season, I expect Looper will make a few more appearances, giving the core of the pen a rest as well as providing Seattle with a chance to look at Looper before next year.
