Yesterday, the White Sox sent OF-L Anthony Webster, RHP Frankie Francisco, and RHP Josh Rupe to Texas as the players to be named later in the Carl Everett trade.

The White Sox drafted Webster out of high school in the 15th round of the 2001 draft. He spent the remainder of that season with Chicago's Rookie-level Arizona League team and played for Bristol in the Rookie-level Appalachian League last year. This season he advanced to A Kannapolis in the South Atlantic League, where he's hit .289 with a .353 OBP and .361 SLG on 105 H, 18 2B, 1 3B, and 2 HR with a 31:58 BB:K and 20/32 SB% in 363 AB.

Webster definitely appears to possess some speed skills, however his baserunning instincts seem to need improvement. His plate discipline could use a bit of work but looks decent. While he currently lacks power, he could certainly develop some as he matures physically. These skills look promising, especially in a 20-year-old, though we won't have a good feel for his upside until he reaches the upper minors. Webster shouldn't reach the majors until September of 2006 at the earliest, but he does add another promising outfield prospect to the Texas system.

Francisco joined the White Sox when they dealt Bob Howry to Boston last July. Chicago placed him at A+ Winston-Salem in the Carolina League and returned him to starting full-time. This season he returned to Winston-Salem and compiled a 67:36 K:BB with 59 H and 7 HR allowed in 78.1 IP for a 3.56 ERA over 16 starts before the trade. The 23-year-old needs to improve his control but seems to possess some upside.

The White Sox drafted Rupe out of Louisburg North Carolina Junior College with their third round pick of the 2002 draft. He finished out last season at Bristol and then in 2003 advanced to A Kannapolis, where he compiled a 69:36 K:BB with 50 H allowed in 65.2 IP for a 3.02 ERA over 26 appearances, including seven starts. Impressively, the 20-year-old has yet to allow a home run this season. As with Webster, we won't have a strong feel for his potential until he's played in the upper levels of the minors, but his future seems promising.
