by Jessica Polko Just before the All-Star Break, Colorado sent Ben Petrick to Detroit for Adam Bernero. The Rockies wanted a pitcher to bolster their middle relief squad as they try to maintain respectability in the NL West. Meanwhile, the Tigers targeted Petrick as a player who could potential help their offense. Bernero isn't as bad as his 1-12 record would indicate. He's pitched solidly through the first half of the season but lacked run support from the Tigers' offense. However, the Rockies may be right to move him into relief, as he's been unable to maintain a decent strikeout rate as a starter. If the 26-year-old can improve his dominance over shorter outings, then he should pitch well for Colorado.
