by Jessica Polko Yesterday, Cleveland sent Karim Garcia and Dan Miceli to the Yankees for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Even if the Indians don't choose the cash, the player they receive reportedly won't be substantial. Cleveland made this deal because they didn't want Garcia taking playing time away from their promising, young outfielders. Garcia rejoined the Indians on June 23rd after spending six and a half weeks on the disabled list with tendinitis in his left wrist. He thoroughly treated the problem and spent more than two weeks on a rehab assignment before returning to the majors.
