by Jessica Polko Fred McGriff left the Dodgers' June Friday the 13th game in Cleveland due to a strained groin. L.A. delayed putting him on the disabled list, as he'd never before in his 17-year career visited the DL and they hoped he would be able to recover quickly. However, when he wasn't prepared to rejoin the lineup after 10 days on the bench, the Dodgers placed McGriff on the disabled list yesterday. As the move is retroactive to the 14th, he'll be eligible to return on Sunday, but now that he's on the DL, he wants to give his leg time to heal. He'll probably test it later this week after a few days of doing nothing and then start to resume baseball activities. I won't be surprised if the Dodgers' send him on a short rehab assignment before activating him, putting him back with the team sometime around the second week of July.
