by Jessica Polko Yesterday, after a brief stay on the disabled list, Rick Reed rejoined Minnesota. Reed strained an abdominal muscle on his right side during his May 31st start in Seattle. After resting for a short time, he resumed throwing and felt ready to start yesterday against Kansas City, though he did not make a rehab start prior to returning to the team. Reportedly, his arm and side felt fine during the outing in which he allowed seven runs (6 ER) on nine hits and a walk while striking out one in 3.2 IP. Reed merely was rusty and possibly distracted by a sore thumb on his glove hand, which was in the way of a line drive hit up the middle by Ken Harvey in the third inning. He should improve in his next start.
