by Jessica Polko Florida placed Tim Spooneybarger on the disabled list yesterday. Spooneybarger experienced tenderness in his arm in late April, which may have led to a few poor outings over the end of April and beginning of May. However, he recovered and pitched very well over the next month. Spooneybarger responsibly spoke out in early June when he believed new Manager Jack McKeon was overworking him. Evidently, he felt something wasn't right with his arm for over a week before he went on the DL and didn't pitch for six days prior to being placed on the disabled list. Yesterday, an MRI revealed he's suffering from some tendinitis in his elbow. Luckily, nothing else currently appears damaged. The 23-year-old plans to wait a few days before beginning to throw again, but he should be able to rejoin the team within a week of the 27th when he's first eligible to leave the DL.
