by Jessica Polko Yesterday, for the first time in major league history, six pitchers' combined efforts led to a no-hitter, as Houston pitchers Roy Oswalt, Pete Munro, Kirk Saarloos, Brad Lidge, Octavio Dotel, and Billy Wagner humiliated New York in Yankee Stadium. The parade began when Oswalt was forced to leave the game after the first inning because he'd aggravated the injury to his right groin. Prior to leaving the game, Oswalt caused Alfonso Soriano to fly out to center while both Derek Jeter and Jason Giambi struck out swinging. Munro relieved Oswalt prior to the top of the second inning. During Munro's time on the mound, Jorge Posada, Jeter, and Todd Zeile walked while Soriano reached base on an error and Giambi took first after Munro hit him with a pitch. Saarloos took over from Munro with one out left in the fourth and carried the Astros to the sixth without allowing a baserunner. Brad Lidge relieved Saarloos and kept the basepaths clear for another two innings. Pitching the eighth, Dotel struck out four batters, as a wild pitch allowed Soriano to reach base on a "dropped third strike".
