by Jessica Polko Jason Bere wasn't back from the disabled list for a week before his shoulder forced him to book a return ticket. The Indians put him back on the DL yesterday after he left his Tuesday start due to shoulder stiffness following the first inning. Bere reported that the shoulder felt as it had prior to his first DL trip, and he appears convinced that rehab has failed and surgery will be necessary. He'll now undergo tests to determine whether his rotator cuff strain has developed into a tear. Any surgery probably would put him out for the season. Cleveland called up Brian Tallet to fill Bere's roster spot. We looked at Tallet when he received a September call-up last year. Over ten starts at AAA Buffalo in the International League this year, the 25-year-old has compiled a 50:26 K:BB with 51 H and 7 HR allowed in 59 IP for a 4.27 ERA.
