by Jessica Polko Baltimore placed B.J. Surhoff on the disabled list on Sunday. Surhoff strained his right hamstring in the eighth inning of the Orioles' Saturday game against Kansas City while running out a double. While the injury isn't considered serious and Surhoff may be ready to return within a week, Baltimore didn't want to take any chances, especially since they were already looking to open up a roster spot for Eric DuBose. Surhoff will be eligible to return from the DL on the 19th. We discussed DuBose when he received a cup-of-coffee last September. However, after spending two of the last three years as a reliever, the Orioles had DuBose working as a starter at AAA Ottawa this year. At the time of his promotion, DuBose had compiled a 21:4 K:BB with 26 H and 1 HR allowed in 30 IP for a 2.40 ERA at Ottawa. Baltimore needed him to start because Rodrigo Lopez hit the disabled list on Friday.
