Pitchers with 2 starts to deploy only in leagues that don't count qualitative stats:
SP(6) Smoltz, Peavy, Burnett, Papelbon, and even Felix look automatic, and then between Santana, Oswalt, and Young, Oswalt looks like the best bet. Ryan Howard hits the bench, joining Iannetta and the miserably-slumping Delmon Young. With Willy Taveras appearing healthy, we can bench Young's comparably ineffectual teammate Rocco Baldelli. Lastly, with Toronto finishing the week in Philly, we're benching Frank Thomas, who appears unlikely to start in the NL, which allows us to return David Wright and Bill Hall to active duty.

With Halladay sidelined for no less than a month and Ryan Howard's DL trip similarly leaving us few offensive options, we're purchasing Prince Fielder, on his way to Philly for four games. He looks like one of the best power options in the league even before considering that he's nicely cost-efficient at 910 and gives us a needed mid-cap alternative at first base.
SP(6) Most of these appear automatic, including Oswalt, Peavy, Daisuke, Haren, and Papelbon. With Felix on a strict pitch count and both Sheets and Webb entering tough pitchers' parks, Santana claims the sixth slot. Fielder replaces Howard, Taveras subs for Baldelli, and David Wright lets us sit Delmon Young. Iannetta, Pujols, and Drew remain benched, and as we need more offense and especially more pitching to replace our injured starters, guys like Drew and Howard appear quite vulnerable to losing their roster spots.

With Beckett hurting and Harden a long way from returning, we're tempted to spend a move on one of several doubles, including Smoltz, Hudson, Daisuke, Maine, and Haren, but with Cole Hamels and C.C. Sabathia offering far more upside and both looking set for doubles next week, we see no need to purchase anyone this weekend.
SP(6) Oswalt, Peavy, Felix, Burnett, and Papelbon are easy calls, and then we slightly prefer Santana to Young due to the greater K upside. Running Santana also means that Pujols stays benched, but we don't mind given the other options here and the fact that he's not only slumping but hitting the road in LA and Detroit. Mauer, Stephen Drew, and Delmon Young also remain benched while Ian Kinsler, Willy Taveras, David Wright, and Bill Hall hit the lineup in place of Brandon Phillips, Rocco Baldelli, Ryan Howard, and Garrett Atkins.

NL owners also should track interleague carefully given the opportunities afforded erstwhile bench players with an extra lineup slot available to managers. Expect to see extra at-bats this week awarded to Craig Wilson, Jeff Conine, Aaron Boone, Brady Clark, Russ Branyan, Mark Sweeney, and Scott Spiezio, so definitely try to use these guys if you want a quantitative boost.
