Diamond Challenge
With Joe Mauer owning the best BA among any regular catcher, we're going to correct our initial mistake by purchasing him for our team. His addition gives us a backup at every position as we opted to cut the injured Ben Sheets. We almost dumped Jason Schmidt and still expect to release Schmidt when we add Dontrelle in two weeks as a free agent, however considering Schmidt's win upside and Sheets' persistent injury, we're opting for the move that provides us with more immediate options.

Along with the five doubles, we'll deploy Beckett over Santana, giving us the opportunity to maximize our offense by running Pujola, Tejada, Crawford, and Edmonds. Mauer subs for Buck, Holliday replaces Mench, and then Lane also joins Giles, Reyes, and Dave Wright on our bench.

No starts: Pedro, Sheets, Harden, and Beckett.
With Oswalt facing the hottest pitcher in the game, Clemens on the road against Burnett, and Schmidt struggling while heading to Houston, we easily select the remaining six pitchers here.
Holliday returns to the lineup for Reed, but with Giles, Reyes, and Reed offering relatively little upside, we'll leave Buck deployed in Toronto while Victor Martinez sits in favor of Mauer, allowing us to squeeze under the cap.

Santana joins the five doubles due to his slightly superior dominance compared to Beckett.
Helton, Holliday, and Closser sub for Mench, Reed, and Buck, although barring a sudden surge from Closser or Buck, Joe Mauer also will join this team very soon.

Today's Fantasy Rx: We consider the following players "must own" in the Diamond Challenge, so adding them soon seems like a good move: Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Brian Roberts, Troy Glaus, Clint Barmes, Miguel Cabrera, Scott Podsednik, Johan Santana, Pedro Martinez, Rich Harden, A.J. Burnett, Josh Beckett, Dontrelle Willis, Francisco Rodriguez, and B.J. Ryan.
Barmes, Santana, and Willis all appear as free agents in two weeks, along with solid plays Albert Pujols and Chone Figgins. Similar strong players Adam Dunn, Marcus Giles, and David Wright will be available next week as free agents, so plan on burning moves as needed in the near future to fix your weakest areas with some of the best values in the game.
