by Tim Polko After finishing 10th out of 12 teams during the inaugural season of FSICNL in 2002 and improving to 7th in 2003, we tweaked our strategy again in an attempt to finish in the money in the third year of the league. Please refer to our discussion of this year's draft on March 11th and March 12th for a detailed look at how we compiled our roster. We essentially planned to punt wins and strikeouts in favor of maximizing our finishes in the other three pitching categories since the league rules do not list any AB or IP maximums or minimums. After drafting Eric Gagne in the first round and adding LaTroy Hawkins, Guillermo Mota, Matt Herges, and Akinori Otsuka much later in the draft, we expected to finish first in ERA and WHIP while hopefully accumulating enough saves for a high finish in every category save wins and strikeouts.
7:00 on Fox: Houston@Atlanta Since we expect Houston to win the Series, they should be able to defeat Jaret Wright again even with Roy Oswalt on three days' rest, finally winning their first playoff series ever. Investing in more than three or four offensive players from a single team rarely benefits a fantasy team. Owning several teammates can leave you very vulnerable if that team's offense slumps. You also risk significant category problems if any stadium remodeling goes largely unreported until after your draft.
