by Tim Polko Note: The beginning of most stat lines includes the following data: H/AB for BA/OBP/SLG.
Gonzalez turned 36 at the beginning of the month yet appears on track to nicely improve from last season in most statistical categories. His average bounced back over .300 thanks to increasing his contact rate from .85 to .88 as he remained healthy for the entire year and even continued stealing bases. Both his .94 G-F and 3.89 #P/PA ranks among the top three marks of his career, and he drove home over 100 runs for the fifth straight season. He remains Arizona's primary power threat, and as long as Gonzalez's skills continue to remain steady or improve even as he ages, feel free to acquire him whenever you need a significant offensive boost. Previous Overachievers: April: Carlos Baerga, 2B; May: Chad Moeller; June: Matt Kata; July: Steve Finley; August: Alex Cintron.
