Colorado: 7 games: 1 Road at Atlanta; 3 Home vs. Montreal; 3 Home vs. New York Mets. Baltimore: 8 Home games: 4 vs. Tampa Bay; 3 vs. Toronto.
7 Home games
7 games Kansas City: 3 Road at Toronto; 4 Home vs. Minnesota. Toronto: 3 Home vs. Kansas City; 4 Road at Baltimore.
Atlanta: 1 Home vs. Colorado; 3 Road at San Diego; 3 Road at Los Angeles.
7 Road games Teams with six home games: Arizona, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and New York Yankees. All other teams play six games with at least three on the road.
With two moves remaining along with call-ups, we know we'll spend at least two of them on
Halladay and Scott Stewart, especially as the second gives us significan cap relief
following his trip to Coors this week. We'll likely eventually cut Izzy to maximize
offense and starting pitching down the stretch, so we're considering cutting someone
this week to add either Halladay or possibly Aaron Boone to boost our sagging steals.
We're not overly pleased that Rollins started running right after we cut him.
Our potential drops for Halladay/Boone are Mussina, Clemens, Javier Vazquez, and Jeremy
Giambi, although we can't really afford to drop Giambi for cap reasons. We'll consider
a move after determining our probable lineup both without a move and with either player.

(Possible buy) Roy Halladay: Wed:KC(Sedlacek)
Our major need is WHIP, so we should add safe starts when possible. We'll skip the
Vazquez double for that reason. Randy, Hudson, Lawrence, and Gagne all look good, as
do Pedro, Schilling, Zito, and Oswalt. Our lineup certainly will include the first
four, so we'll look at our offense next before selecting the remaining two.
We want the four Rockies playing, as well as Vlad since he spends three games in Coors.
We'll bench the Giambi brothers due to injury and PT concerns. With Sosa and Nomar only
playing six games this week and fighting potentially lingering health problems, we'll
sit both of them to finish our roster.
Our best two pitching options are Schilling and Halladay, who we like even better than
Pedro against Texas, so we'll spend one of our last two burns on Halladay, dumping the
struggling Clemens who should only double once more and has struggled against most of his
scheduled opponents.
Shadow of the Umpire(1st lg; 2nd div; 5th(tie) overall; 183rd(tie) field)
We're using our last free agent move on Aaron Boone. While we probably should drop a
pitcher to add the 3B backup, Mike Lowell's not hitting anything, so we'll simply replace
him and take the 120 savings in salary. We're not sure who we're adding for call-ups
next week but we don't expect to add anyone overly expensive. The Boone move leaves us
with three burns left aside from the call-up.
SP(6)
We definitely like the Randy, Garcia, and Lowe doubles, and as our weakest categories
are strikeout and WHIP, we'll make every effort to deploy Pedro and Schilling along
with Halladay. Unfortunately we don't appear to have room to start all three expensive
pitchers, so we'll sit Pedro since we think Schilling should post more K's this week.
We'll replace him with Gagne for cap reasons.
On offense, Sammy sits due to his high salary and potential injury problems after he
collided with Mark Bellhorn today. We'll also sit Jason Giambi, Ichiro, and Berkman,
as despite relatively strong schedules, we just don't have the cap room available.
While replacing Mike Barrett with Toby Hall is tempting, we're not cutting Barrett
in the week he goes to Coors, though we'll consider that switch next week.
SP(6)
No starts: Mussina, Clemens, Morris, Zito, and Wood.
We really don't have any options here as we don't want to run Vazquez in Colorado but
like the other six starts.
As we also want to play Vlad and the four Rockies, we're stuck sitting the scalding
ARod, who we actually don't mind benching considering he only plays three games, plays
them in Boston, and faces Lowe, Fossum, and Pedro. Bonds and Sosa sit with our cap
nearly maxed, as do Jason Giambi and J.D. Drew. Lastly we'll deploy Klesko over
Konerko as Klesko plays an extra game.
SP(6)
We're quite comfortable running Randy and Vazquez here, as the latter is solid since
all we need are wins, strikeouts, and innings, and Gagne remains deployed as always.
We'll try to find cap room to deploy both Pedro and Schilling since they've each posted
about twenty-five points or so in most of their recent starts.
On offense, Nick Johnson and Floyd sit due to their injury problems, and we'll keep
Jeremy Giambi and Drew benched due to continued playing time concerns. Spivey and
Mike Lowell have both struggled recently, and we don't have cap room to run Sosa.
However we really want Berkman deployed at home since we have cap room, so we'll activate
him and Spivey and leave Bret Boone and Torii Hunter, who both spend this week on the
road, on our bench. We wind up slightly under the cap but fielding a team we like a lot.
Randy, Garcia, and Halladay all look good, but instead of the expensive studs, we'll
deploy Zito, Oswalt, and Halladay due to the reduced cap available, although Burnett
also looks quite strong. Since the difference between Burnett and Zito will not be
worth the necessary reduction in offense, we'll leave Zito benched.
Castillo, D.Lee, and Lowell head to the bench with the Marlins' offense doing practically
nothing. Floyd's still fighting injuries, Pierzynski will sit for the red hot Toby Hall,
and we lack the cap room for Bonds; Konerko, Ichiro, and T.Hunter also sit for cap room.
We'd like to dump Floyd and add a cheap outfielder since we're hurting for cap room.
We considered the following players, ranked by points/at-bat over the last three weeks:
Durazo(85/47), Daryle Ward(53/55), Jay Payton(50/52), Corey Patterson(61/77), Randy
Winn(48/68), and Vernon Wells(33/79). As Durazo leads in points despite the least at-bats,
he's an easy choice over these others. Aaron Boone(95/76) also ranks quite high, so
we're going to add him for Lowell, deploying Boone for Hinske in our lineup.
