Colorado: 6 Home games: 3 vs. New York Yankees; 3 vs. Tampa Bay. Milwaukee: 7 Home games: 3 vs. Houston; 3 vs. Anaheim. All other teams play six games.
SP(6)
Javier Vazquez: Fri:CLE(Sabathia) We remain comfortably locked into Isringhausen, Kim, Guardado, and Williams as our relievers. We'll sit Mussina since we don't want to risk either him losing in Colorado or to Lawrence, and we'll go ahead and start both Lawrence and Oswalt, along with Gagne as usual. We also like Ortiz in a great home start and Hudson against a horribly cold pitcher and offense. Lastly, we'll choose between Zito, Wood, and Schilling depending on the cap. With A.J. Pierzynski as a free agent, we'll add him to replace Toby Hall since Pierzynski's hitting really well in a fairly good lineup with better skills than most higher-priced catchers. He costs us 120 in cap room each week over Hall, but since we remain desperate to boost our sagging RBI totals, he seems like a good fit, especially as he should help with both BA and runs. We got burned by sitting Larry Walker last week, so we'll start our Rockies this week as they spend half the week at home against Tampa, and also expect them to perform well the first half of the week at home against the Yankees. The only exception is Juan Pierre, as despite his 3 steal game, we're not desperate for steals and we're running decently well in BA and runs. We'll sub in Sosa at home against Texas and St. Louis. Regarding our starters, we can use Zito instead of Wood if we take Rollins instead of J.D. Drew, and with the Cardinals facing Anaheim and the Cubs, we're willing to risk the slightly decreased production for the safer start, especially after Wood's command problems today. These changes lock us in right at $30000, so we see no reason to make further changes.

SP(6) Oswalt and Halladay have nice doubles, and we'll use Gagne here, too. We still like Zito's start in this game, and we'll keep Schilling active to hopefully grab some wins. We'd like to start Randy, but we need offense desperately, and even if we can't fit Sosa, we need as much other offense as possible; Omar Daal's hurting, so LA might need to promote a minor league veteran, so we'll deploy the still-hot Derek Lowe. On offense, we'll bench Sosa, Pierre, Hunter, and Jeremy Giambi; we'd the like to play the first two, but we just don't have the necessary cap room if we want to maintain solid pitching. Also, while we're concerned about the health and effectiveness of our closers, specifically Izzy and Vlad, we'll hold off on any moves for now. However we're very concerned with our poor start in this game; in another week or two, we may consider abandoning this team unless we have a shot at winning something, since most of our players have performed terribly thus far.

SP(6) No starts: Vazquez, Zito, and Wood.
RP(4) Izzy stays benched until we're convinced he's healthy. Due to the need to avoid the Colorado starts, and our unwillingness to start all three expensive pitchers, we're left with Randy, Schilling, Morris, Oswalt, Gagne, and Lawrence. Although Houston has one game more than everyone but Milwaukee this week, they also face a lefty, so we'll sit Daryle Ward in favor of Durazo, who should hopefullly start three games at home against Baltimore. We'll also play the entire Colorado platoon here, leaving Sosa, Vlad, Bonds, Rollins, and Ward on the bench.

We have no relievers on the bench, so we'll stay with Smoltz, Isringhausen, Kim, and Guardado until further notice.
SP(6) We're forced to sit Mussina and Clemens, and we also don't like the Pedro start. We'll deploy Gagne, Oswalt, Morris, and Schilling, and then decide who to bench between Randy, Vazquez, and Wood based on available cap room after we set the offense. We want to play most of our Rockies, but we're stuck playing Boone instead of Ortiz(DL). We're not prepared to burn a move this week, so to compensate for Boone, we'll deploy D'Angelo Jimenez instead of Uribe; Helton, Walker, and Pierre will start. To clear up cap room to include Randy and Vazquez since we're very worried about Wood getting any innings or the win against Simontacchi, we'll bench Floyd, Drew, and Ward, instead deploying Patterson and Jeremy Giambi, while continuing to use Cox, Nick Johnson, Berkman, and Dunn.

We're also gloating a little since the Cubs won this weekend's El series, so at least there's something for which Northsiders can be happy in the past few weeks.
