Colorado: 6 games: 3 Road at Boston; 3 Home vs. Cleveland. All teams play six games.
Pitchers of interest who might get two starts:
SP(6)
Javier Vazquez: Mon:@DET(Bernero); Sun:TOR(Loaiza) We remain comfortably locked into Isringhausen, Kim, Guardado, and Williams as our relievers. Toby Hall will also remain in our lineup for another week; since his demotion he's hitting .303/.364/.306, so although he needs to add power, he's at least making contact despite a poor 0:4 BB:K in 33 AB. We continue to expect his return by the All-Star break, and with Barrett's recent slump and loss of playing time, our only alternative is likely A.J. Pierzynski, a free agent next week. Now we only have one FA left after purchasing Oswalt, Williams, and Vlad, and we were planning on adding Derek Lowe next week; however if we can't find a pitcher we want to drop for Lowe, we may just add A.J. and his .300+ BA. While we're not going to go out and add a bat this week, we do need to start as many of our HR/RBI guys as possible until we stop losing ground in those categories. We can afford to take small hits in SB, runs, strikeouts, and even wins as long as we can make up ground in RBI, our worst category in league, division, and overall. Fortunately we have a few relatively inexpensive double starts this week, including Vazquez and Wood. We need to start Randy for obvious reasons, and Gagne might remain active for the rest of the year, since he's also our second-most cap-friendly starter. Zito might double if Oakland skips Lidle, but even if he just gets one start, we'd take him anyway facing Milwaukee at home. Finally, Lawrence is as hot as any pitcher aside from Schilling and Quevedo, and while we'd like to start Schilling, we open up a lot of cap room by taking Lawrence against an equally poor offense. We'll start our Rockies since they spend half the week at home, although Larry Walker will continue to sit until we seem him playing regularly (or the Rockies spend the entire week in a good offensive park). Sitting Walker allows us to start Sosa, a logical play since he's in Minute Maid and then at home against the Sox. We need to activate Berkman since he's at home for the week, so we'll bench Pierre since he's contributed little lately, and he wouldn't help in runs or RBI anyway. These moves leave Walker, Pierre, Vlad(in Detroit and at home against Toronto, neither of which appear particularly interesting), and Jimmy Rollins on our bench.

We're cutting our Josh Beckett losses since he's out for at least a month, and we'll add Javier Vazquez to replace him.
SP(6) Automatic starts for Randy, Vazquez, Wood, and Lowe; we'll also take Zito in case he doubles, and we'll keep Gagne going until we're comfortable with our saves. We'll activate Berkman, Burrell, and Hunter for Ichiro, Pierre, and Larry Walker to hopefully boost us out of next-to-last in HR and RBI.

SP(6) No starts: Pedro, Schilling, Clemens, and Morris.
RP(4) After learning our lesson this weekend with Kim dominating against Boston, we'll keep our big guns active; we'll sit Guardado unless we wind up with the ability to sit Julio. Mussina, Zito, and Lawrence are all obvious plays, and we see no reason not to use Vazquez or Gagne either. We'll set our offense and then see which remaining pitcher we can afford. Colorado's on the road, we'll deploy our alternates. However we're using Ward and Durazo, while likely benching Drew and Rollins. We're left with a choice between starting Kerry Wood and Vlad or Randy and Rollins; both combinations cost 2930 and bring us in 50 under the cap. Vlad's in Detroit for 3 and Rollins plays in Cleveland for 3. Given that RBI are our worst category, we'll take Vlad and Kerry, especially since we're not convinced that Randy will severely outpitch Kerry tomorrow.

We have no relievers on the bench, so we'll stay with Smoltz, Isringhausen, Kim, and Guardado until further notice.
SP(6) Randy, Vazquez, Wood, and Gagne are obvious plays, and we'll also use Schilling and Morris since they're the most likely to win of the remaining pitchers. Colorado will sit since we'd need to bench Helton for Sosa anyway, and we're losing faith in the other Rockies in this league. Along with the five Rockies, Hall, and Blalock, we'll sit J.D. Drew, who's less likely to help this week than Cliff Floyd due to likely sitting for at least one game.

Also, we've seen some questioning of Wood this week since he's against two good offenses, but he's always owned the Astros and I don't expect him to struggle against the White Sox at home. If you own him in any league with transactions due tonight, we see no reason not to start him.
